Burden DDS and Associates, we treat your little ones as if they were part of our own family and we take an enthusiastic, upbeat approach to every pediatric visit. your child's first visit

If you’re bringing your child in for the first time, you can expect a warm welcome and highly-personalized care throughout their entire appointment. We’ve created a special space with an “Outdoors” theme painted by one of our own team members! Not only will your little one enjoy looking at the animals in the scenery but there are also 11 hidden teeth painted within the space, foliage and animals. Inspired by Disney theme parks, adults and kids alike can have fun searching and locating the teeth hidden within the scenary of the room! At the end of your child's visit, they are rewarded with a visit to our treasure chest full of toys and prizes to ensure they leave with a smile. Our team will communicate with you and your little one in a way that you both will understand and appreciate. Whether we’re cleaning your child’s teeth, taking x-rays, or teaching your little one how to brush and floss, you can rest assured that they will feel comfortable every step of the way.

the importance of pediatric care

Research shows that children who learn to take care of their teeth at a young age are more likely to have healthy dental habits for the rest of their lives. Frequent visits to our office will help your child become more familiar with dental appointments, and this also enables you to develop a better doctor-patient relationship. Starting early at the dentist also helps our team track your child’s oral development more effectively throughout their childhood and gives us the opportunity to recognize any issues quickly before they become bigger problems down the road.

Dental Sealants to protect teeth

A child’s rear molars are at an especially high risk of developing cavities since their diets are often higher in sugar and they may not have learned to brush and floss properly. Oral bacteria can build up over time if teeth are not cleaned properly, especially when sugar and acids directly contact teeth so frequently. To help keep your child’s rear molars cavity-free, we offer dental sealants. This painless, non-invasive procedure involves the application of a special dental resin that forms a clear barrier on top of teeth to protect them from direct contact with harmful bacteria.

fluoride treatments to strengthen enamel

If your child’s teeth show signs of the early stages of decay, fluoride treatments can strengthen their tooth enamel and help them avoid cavities. During this non-invasive, painless treatment, one of our hygienists will apply a highly-concentrated paste or gel to your child's teeth, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe it away. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that has the unique ability to strengthen “soft spots” in tooth enamel and keep cavities from forming.

extractions & space maintainers

If one of your child’s primary teeth requires extraction due to decay or injury, we offer space maintainers to ensure that their permanent teeth grow in correctly with no complications. Space maintainers are used to keep teeth from shifting into the empty socket where your child’s primary tooth used to be. If you have questions about tooth extractions and space maintainers, give us a call today to learn more or schedule a consultation with one of our dentists.
